Recently I noticed when I start a new line on a thread it does not automatically start the word with a capital letter.

is this a site problem or a problem with my iPad / iPhone?

^^^^

The I should be a capital letter, or am I supposed to press shift when I start a new line?

testing

^^^^

same again

^^^

Hope I’m making sense 👀

Thanks.

I have noticed this as well, on IOS. I remember it being discussed somewhere and if I remember, it was said to be some Xenforo issue. But for sure, it's an annoying little thing. IOS for the most part will capitalize the first letter after a return is hit.

Add me to the list of slightly annoyed. Sometimes, it takes 4 - 6 attempts, before the capitalization of the beginning word of a paragraph takes hold.
The mental and physical gyrations necessary (on an iphone) to get a capital letter, sometimes cause me to lose my train of thought, that is, backspace, backspace, return, caps. Oops, I just turned the darn thing off. Backspace, backspace, return, caps. Whew...got it. Now what was I thinking?

I go through the same thing at times albeit it on my designer iPad Pro. I can ramble on with the best of forum members and it gets frustrating to keep having to backspace etc., not to mention reread what I wrote to try and remember what I wanted to say.

@I7guy @BasicGreatGuy

Thanks for your replies, glad to hear I’m not the only one (I can sleep well tonight)

Hopefully it turns out to be a XenForo issue, and the site @ admin @moderators are looking into finding a fix for this (Nagging XenForo to sort it out)

Another thing I have noticed, that I believe is forum software related, is how it constantly tries to incorrectly auto-correct words as I am trying to make a post. Like the capitalization issue, it takes numerous attempts before the software will stop trying to correct a word that is already being typed correctly. It happened to me again just now in a thread.

I am also battling the forum software trying to capitalize words that shouldn’t be capitalized in a sentence, in addition to the main topic of the thread.

Even though I am running iOS 14 on my iPad Pro, this also was a problem before my recent purchase.

The oddity I had the other day was the site constantly wanted to delete the last word on the penultimate paragraph whenever I tried to start a new paragraph.

I forget now just what finger gymnastics I had to employ to get past it, but I’m pretty sure it would have gotten 5.8 from all the judges...

sorry. the editor isn't something we can really easily fix. There's a new version of the editor coming later this year... hopefully it will fix more problems then it introduces :)

Has this been an ongoing problem with Xenforo, and has it been discussed on the Xenforo forums? What do you think the likelihood is, of this being fixed with the update?

It's been an ongoing problem, but they also outsource the editor side... so there are limitations there too.

https://froala.com is the underlying tech and they are going from 2.x -> 3.x with then next version of xenforo.
