Automatic graphics switching disabled by default?

I clean installed Mojave on my 15" tbMBP this afternoon. I took it off the power and noticed the battery draining faster than usual and activity monitor showed the computer using the dedicated graphics so I went to energy saver and noticed that automatic graphics switching was disabled. I'm not sure if this was an isolated incident or intended design.

I’ve just noticed the same thing (2012 retina MP). Do you ever have a problem where the computer freezes when you plug in an external monitor?

I haven't used it with an external monitor yet
