If I go to the forums page, I automatically get logged in. I was just wondering if I was automatically logged in when I visit the main page and/or the guides. Call me anal, but I don't like to log on when I'm not visiting the forums because I play MacRumors through New Posts and logging on unnecessarily loses my marker as to what I've seen and what I haven't seen.

Anyone got any idea? It's not a huge issue, I'm just interested. :)

I think when you visit the homepage or the guides, it doesn't log you on until you click on the forum. That is the way I think it does it for me so I am sure it will be the same for you.

I have always wondered why the main page isn't more integrated with the forum. I want to get notice of PMs when i go to the main page.

Well the home page and the forums are on different servers so that could be why it isnt as integrated as other sites, it would be nice to let you know when you get new PM's.

Thanks. I reckon you're right.

I can confirm this - I only recieve "new reply" notifications in my Inbox when I actually visit the Forums. If I am on the main page, I don't receive anything additional - it doesn't count as the "most recent visit", causing new "new post" notifications to be sent to me.
