Automatically duplicating contacts in address book

Something very strange is happening. There is one contact in my address book and also entourage which is automatically duplicating itself. I had over 15,000 copies of it. It started when I synchronised my iphone 3gs with my new mac, but am not sure whether it originated from the iphone or the mac. Although I keep deleting the contacts, as soon as I try to synch with the iphone (itunes settings to override phone contacts) it all starts again.😡😕
