I've got the Schlage lock and have the same thing. You cannot have locks in geofence automations or it will ask you if you want to run it (when the phone is locked). This is a conscious but stupid decision from Apple. Half of it makes sense: You do not want someone to steal your phone, pull up to your driveway, and have your house automatically unlock.
But locking a door is not the same as unlocking a door. The latter is not a security risk. Apple just treats anything to do with a lock as "not going to happen without user input". I reported this and that's more or less the answer I got.
