Automator: Organize with automatic dated folders

Is it possible to have automator look at a folder with 10,000 photos in it, filter the photos by date created and place them in folders it creates by it self with folder names the month/year they were taken?

I know iphoto, aperture, etc does this all by it self but I have some photos that I do not want to use with iphoto/aperture libraries... mostly for use between cross-platforms and a different way of backup up.

If this is ever so possible, can someone tell me exactly how I should be laying out my script in automator?
