I'm wondering if the action "copy finder items" gas a limit to how much it could make a copy of. I have it set to copy my home folder contents to an external hard drive but every time it goes to back up my music folder it fails and the automation stops. Any ideas?

how big is your home folder?

Im assuming there is plenty of space on the external drive.

Are you doing this as a routine backup?
