I'm working on an automator routine to build web links.
The flow is:
1) Get user input (Ask For Text).
2) Create the URL using that user string (Run Shell Script).
3) Place URL on clipboard (Copy To Clipboard).
I have this working fine, except one thing: The 1) Ask For Text stage does not take the keyboard paste command - it just makes a bonk sound. However, right-clicking with the mouse and selecting "paste" pastes the user input just fine.
When run from within Automator, the paste works - it's when I save it as an Application (so I can just run it from the desktop) that it doesn't work.
Any ideas how to fix the Ask For Text step to take keyboard paste or maybe I should be using another way to get input from the user? It's not a show-stopper, as the routine works, I'd just prefer to be able to use the opton-v to paste like every other application.
