Ive had my pb (first mac) for a while now and ive found ive never used the automator. Im not really sure how to use it and even less sure on what it can be used to do. what do you folks use it for? maybe it can help me out with some of the tasks i do

I have a few workflows set up to resize images. I just drag them from iPhoto to my desktop, right click, select 'Resize 25%', select the images, and press go. It outputs them to a nice web-friendly size, ready for upload.

I have a workflow set to batch rename my music to Sentence Case because sometimes CD imports come through in capitals or lower case and that annoys me.

I also found it very helpful when migrating a huge bunch of files from a Mac file server to a Windows 2003 one because I had to get rid of all the quirky symbols in the file names. :)

I use one to dump podcasts to my cell phone and another to download and install the latest WebKit nightly.

I've used one to convert all of my downloaded (legally!) music and voice recordings into m4a, rename them all and set them to something appropriate before syncing them to my iPod. I know i could probably just do this myself, but I had never used automator before and wanted to give it a shot...:)
