Automator, who uses it?

The only thing I've really used Automator for is to rename large groups of pictures. I'll probably find more uses for it, though. It's a great app.
i like automator. but the problem is that there are not enough basic actions included.
lets say you want to export a movie as wav sound in quicktime. there is no action for the export available. there are almost no actions for basic program functions available. so in the end you have to do it in applescript.
automator is a typical apple productivity software. a good idea, nicely implemented but so poorly supported that it is almost useless.
there is a number of workflows out there with some good automator actions. but to make it really useful there should be a library of 2000 actions for basic funtios of the various apple programs included. but as always apple is bad in this field.
