Now here is one niffy tool. I suppose the best one could compare it to for Win32 is the system scheduler, but not even close.

The ability to create scripts to do basically anything, just sweet... except it does not always seem to work.

Example, combining PDF files. From the desktop I selected several PDF files, right click choose automator then create workflow. I then search for combine and drag over 'combine pdf pages' to the workflow. Click run and thinks for a moment and it says complete, except there is no combined pdf. Not on the deskop, not where the files were, and not under Documents. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes you are forgetting one step. You must tell the script to combine and then open that newly formed file. Automator does not save the output it creates. So have the file open in default application and then you'll have to save the new file.

EDIT: And if you really want to know where the file goes then look at what directory the save box initially opens.
