Can't believe people are not talking more about it. iOS 11 completely ruined autorotation.
It's a mess. Our phones always wake up horizontal and switching back to vertical is like
juggling eggs (or use any "smart" substitute you want). Awful. 11.0.2 - the same.
Are they even testing this these days? Or just HAVE to release it as new iPhones have to hit the market?

Ruined it for whom? On all my devices it’s fine so maybe it’s not a widespread issue?

No, you're not imagining things. It's been awful on my 7 plus; stuff will get locked in landscape all the time, to the point where I have to force quit apps to get them to rotate normally (Notes especially is awful, but I have it happen in iMessage regularly too). That said, overall, iOS 11 is good. Just a lot of annoying little bugs like that.

It’s fine on my iPad. On iPhone 6s+ it’s a hit and miss with some apps. Safari will tilt with phone when surfing web, but won’t till if I’m watching a video in safari. I have to do the 180 tilt a few times for videos to tilt.

Ios11 is a shower of sh*t. Not only this, but home button takes an age to engage. Apps run slower and battery life is boll•cks

I tolerated all the problems in beta, but public issue wtf?

Same issue here on iPhone 6plus. Aggravating for sure.

Auto-rotation issues....

IPP 12 g2 - Some apps will open up upside down while in landscape mode. Just occasionally, not all the time. IPP is elevated with Smart Keypad. Mostly occurs with watching apps - Spectrum TV and Netflix :(

IP 7+ - since 11.x, my device will be lying flat on my desk and i will reach out and touch the Home Key to either view notifications (use a non registered finger for this) or see my Home Screen. Frequently the screen will wake up in landscape mode. even though it was already lying flat in portrait when it screen went off. :(

iMini 4 - no new issues .... ;)

Haven't figured it out and doesn't appear worse in .01 vs. .02
I consider it more of an annoyance at this time. It is concerning though as 10.x didn't have this issue.

I've noticed multiple apps will appear to open in landscape mode but then are upright when they open. it's a lot slower than before to rotate the screen. messages, email and twitter are the apps i've noticed that attempt to open in landscape all the time.

Yeah, 7 Plus x 2 here. Disgusting. Every time I pick up the phone, it's a waste of a minute or so, just
to put it back to vertical. Crazy. Locking in landscape as yours all the time too.

Yup same issue here. I tend to not let these things bother me too much.
Running a 5S so most times I believe it’s just my old phone.
Unresponsive screen happens too occasionally.

I'm having issues on my 6 Plus, too. Things seem to get stuck and have to be rotated several times or even closed and reopened to fix rotation issues, especially with videos. I've even had the phone rotate to upside down vertical (i.e., with the status bar by the home button) while holding it horizontal. I didn't even know the phone could do upside down vertical.

It's awful for me too on iOS 11.0.2.

Videos get "stuck" in horizontal mode in the Facebook app. It's very frustrating.

Same here. Crazy

My iPhone 6 Plus, 6s Plus, 7 Plus all have had random autorotation issues since 2014. Guess this is a sensor problem. Sometimes the home screen just rotates to horizontal by itself. Very frustrating.
