Autosave and versions enabled?

    I installed the Lion GM and versions doesn't seem to be working. I opened up Textedit and Pages and I don't see any option for going to a version. I have restore windows when quitting apps checked in system preferences.

    Current Pages and Keynote don't support the new API.

    TextEdit does. Are you clicking the part in the title bar that says edited? You need to save the document first of course :p

    Yes, Textedit does. Just open a document, Save it as something, then you will see save be replaced by Save a Version. To enter Versions, go to the File Menu and "Revert to Saved". You can lock a document to prevent future Versions by hovering over the documents name in the titlebar of the app, where you'll see a little downward facing arrow.

    Versions also works in Preview for annotating PDFs and editing picture files. It is quite neat to play with.
