Hey guys and girls.

I’m deciding between a discounted AW4 and a new AW5. Storage is doubled in AW5, but how much can you actually use for music. Has anyone tried?

I think you can use half for music—16GB. There is another thread about that if I recall.

Edit: I think it’s 1/4, as Bazooka-joe says.

Around 7.5 gb. No more than the S4.

My understanding is that approximate 1/4 of the total storage is available for local storage for the Music app. So that'd be ~4GB on an S4 and ~8GB on the S5.

I don't remember ever seeing more than almost-4GB on my S4 but I also never upgraded it to WatchOS6 so maybe something changed.

I am pretty sure that i could store almost 8gb on my S4. It was the same for the S3 Cellular as that had 16gb of total storage where as the non-cellular S3 only had 8gb of storage

I could actually put a little over 8GB music into Apple Watch series 4. I think the series 5 can store more, but have no way to prove it. What I do believe is I should be able to store over 10GB on my watch. Will need to resync Watch with my phone tonight to find out.

Seems to be very conflicting opinions about the issue. I actually called Apple yesterday and they didn’t even know. My question was sent to software engineers for further questioning 😆

Still waiting for the response. Will let you know when I get it.

In the meanwhile it would mean the world to me if someone would actually try to max out the AW5 for me. Thx

I can’t get more than 8GB on my Series 5. And when I maxed out my music, podcasts stopped downloading.

And maybe there was a Software update or something, but I couldn’t get more than 4GB on my Series 4. But that was when the Series 4 first came out.
