Available Storage Space in iPad?

Dear All,

I am considering to purchase the new Ipad (I have never owned an Apple product before).

What is available storage space on a 16 GB unit? Is it 16 GB or is e.g. 3 GB taken up by iOS, leaving only 13 GB?

If this helps, the 64GB model has 57.18GB available.

My 32Gb has 28.6 Gb.

I still have 21.3 Gb free and I have the original iPad bought in the first week it was available.

Weird that the 64 GB has "lost" ~6GB, while the 32 GB is only ~3GB. This would mean that the 16 is ~1.5 I would also assume that the iOS size would be the same regardless of unit.

Save money buy a 16GB and buy an Airstash+ to get unlimited wireless storage on SD cards!
