Avatars?

I apologize profusely in advance if this is either a stupid question or the wrong place for it.

I have noticed a number of people with a picture or avatar below their name on their forum posts but I can't seem to find a way to add one myself.

• Is it a simple option that I'm simply overlooking somewhere?
• Is there a prerequisite (a minimum number of posts, for example) which I have not yet met?
• Some other reasonable explanation?

I'm mainly just curious but appreciate any helpful information.

You need a minimum of 500 posts (or rank of 6502a) to have an avatar.

Here's the details of adding an avatar FAQ but it doesn't provide specific instructions on how to create them.

I recommend you find something that interests you, or is meaningful and then resize it appropriately using your favorite image editing app.
