i just got some test files from a canon hf10 to test with on my
mac pro. i find that imovie imports them fine and transcodes them
to apple intermediate codec. is there a way to transcode them to
something else through imovie?
i keep seeing references to prores as a good alternative. can this
be done in the imovie workflow? can the clips be directly transcoded
to prores through imovie?
my final destination will be final cut. i tried opening the clips (.mts)
in mpeg streamclip but the index.bdm files say they are an
unsupported file type and the .mts files don't open either. qtplayer
says neither is a movie.
what's an easy, hopefully free way to transcode these clips to prores?
uncompressed?
thanks,
