avchd format? will it be supported?

Hey, i was just wondering if sony and pansonic avchd format will ever be supported for final cut express, i am not needing to edit in hd right but for next year i will really like to, is there any hope??

Final Cut Studio 2 does not yet support it, so Express probably will not either. Looks like AVCHD still needs to be transcoded.

To encode over more than one format.

For example: To edit AVCHD you will have to encode it in into a DV variant like HDV, DVCPRO.
