Intro:
I recently purchased a Canon Ivis HF21, and I have been trying different things to get the best quality footage when importing. I am looking to make HD movies with the camera, and wanted to import the footage as cleanly and smoothly as possible.
Some important details:
The camera shoots in AVCHD. (1080i)
I would like to have all my final footage in 720p.
I would like to use Final Cut, not iMovie.
So two questions.
1. I tried Final Cut first.. and I couldn't figure out how to import the video directly from the camera. How do I accomplish this?
2. Using iMovie, when importing, I get two options: Large and Full. Are these the only possible options? If so, then how do I turn the footage into 720p once it is imported as Full?
Basically, I just want to know what the best way is for me to get 720p footage from AVCHD footage using Final Cut Pro.
Thanks so much.
