AVHD videos on OSX?

I bought a new Sony HD camera, what software do I need to edit/convert these videos to work in iDVD? it works on my windows pc but not sure what I need for Mac since the sony software does not work for mac.

It's AVCHD, which is supported by iMovie '08, but I'm not sure if it's supported on mini DVDs.
