.AVI files not working with Ouicktime and Perian...

I downloaded and installed Perian, but I still get a black Quicktime window when trying to view .avi files. No picture, no sound. The timer runs but no output. WTF??

Could be a problem with the file as well. It's always handy having two media players available, as in Quicktime+Perian and VLC.
