.avi has no sound?!

Hi, just today, I tried to play a movie (format was avi) and there was picture but no sound? I'm using VLC, any solutions?

The answer here is to download MPEG Streamclip, it handles AVIs very nicely. Once you open it up and check to see if it is OK, then export it as a .mov so your can handle it in any other program you have.

Sometimes an AC3 audio codec is required too.

This one finally works perfectly with QuickTime 7.0.x
