avi into itunes?

    so i have a bunch of .avi files i would like to put on my ipad....do i have to handbrake these files to get them into itunes format? or is there any easier way? thanks.

    Threads and threads.

    And yes, Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip or Visual Hub is needed.

    avi is obsolete and not supported

    i wonder when the same is true of .mp4/.m4v....as i am encoding all my video in those formats
