AVI on Quicktime?

Hey guys, i was wondering, why can't QuickTime player play .avi files? 😕
They keep asking me to go to Apple's quicktime site to download QuickTime components, but i cant find any components that relate to avi files...

AVI on QuickTime. 🙂

I believe QuickTime had a bad experience with AVIs as a child.
