.avi to MP4 converter

    Does anybody know of a *free* way to convert an .avi file to an MP4 or some other more OSX compatible file type? I have downloaded a couple of pgrms but they only convert half your video.

    Thanks for your response. For some reason, I can't get it to work. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

    I think you need to have VLC as well but I'm not sure. Never had any problems.

    I downloaded and installed it and when I went to add my source file, I get the message "no valid title found".

    I downloaded VLC but I don't know how it's supposed to work with Handbrake.
