I recently (January 2017) sent my laptop in due it freezing up and restarting randomly. I got the laptop back almost 2 weeks later and i noticed a vertical on the left side of the screen and the camera port also had the new screen showing. This was not an OEM screen at all. After I received the laptop 2 weeks later I used it for 2-3 days and it randomly shut off on me while doing school work and would not turn back on at all. I called squaretrade to file another claim and sent it back in and I got it back a week later unfixed and damaged. Also, the wifi is not detecting any networks, it does not charge and the right speaker is not working at all. They refused to fix anything and voiding my warranty due to some heat damage. CHECK OUT THE PICTURES BELOW OF MY LAPTOP COMING BACK FROM SQUARETRADE WITH ADDITIONAL DAMAGE!!!

Doesnt ST give you the option of repairing in a Apple Store and then reimbursing you?

It's 100% your fault for repairing a laptop at anywhere else other than an Apple store

3rd party insurance/repair companies do NOT use OEM parts and are also pretty careless when handling your gear.

Always take your stuff to Apple directly for repair, and if you can't, make sure it's an Apple Certified Repair center.

yes, and they can also ship to their repair facility. which they always do first.

Not to interrogate you but why would you ever choose to ship it to Squaretrade than to repair it at the Apple Store? You're in tampa so you should have Apple Stores around you as well?

I have had multiple things repaired and replaced through SquareTrade. But for an Apple product, all you need is preauthorization to go directly to Apple. If Apple can't fix it, ST will automatically have it replaced.

Ignorance is bliss.

I am one of those who do third-party repairs and use OEM parts all the while charging less than Apple.

I always thought Squaretrade was a scam. I would avoid them at all costs! Especially with an Apple product.

I too have used ST for years on multiple devices. I've always been completely satisfied with their service but I have never sent an Apple product to them. I just get authorization to get it repaired at an Apple Store, then a PayPal deposit shows up after I submit my Apple service receipt.
