I purchased the GLAS.t for my father about 3 weeks ago and the edges are chipping off already. Keep in mind, he keeps this on his desk all day - it is hardly used (work phone). I emailed Customer Service about this and they denied my warranty claim as it is RECOMMENDED that you use a case with this as it is prone to chipping.

Two days passed and a hairline crack formed from the chipped edge. I submitted a request again and received the same response. This is unbelievable! I have purchased upwards of $100 in screen protectors from these guys. No more.

Have any of you had similar experiences? I have attached some photos of the phone with the GLAS.t on it.

I can't imagine the anger you'd have if this happened to your $70 GLAS.t for your iPad..

i didnt hear or read anything about recommended usage with a case. BEcause I don't use a case and I would have seen it in my research when I got mine back in MArch. ilounge was the first to find this flaw and updated their review. But none of the other reviewers are honest enough to go back and update because they want to continue to get their products for free. This is some new stuff they are coming up with to deny warranty. The phone they are using in their video does not have a case.

There is one review with a guy testing his like they did in the video...he cracked his during the review video!

Spigen is sleazy they cannot be trusted.

Run don't walk away from all of their products.

You should try returning it, and do chargeback with the credit card.

That's the next option. AMEX will have no problem revoking the money from them. Shame, I really enjoyed their Ultra Crystal screen protectors.

Wirelessly posted

Same here. I've used the crystal screenies for several years.

The Glast was an expensive mistake indeed

Glas.t is the best and last screen protector I'll ever use. It's really nice touching actual glass like the iphone's true surface, and not some cheap plastic. Don't let this one person's odd experience turn you away.

It feels great, I'm not disputing that. But if they know it's prone to chipping and refuse to warranty it maybe they need to get back to the drawing board.

While I feel your pain TC, I used mine for a little more than 2 months and treated it like complete crap. No true breaking or anything. I did chip the corner when I dropped my phone but even almost three weeks later no cracks or anything. There were some surface scratches when I removed it but all of them were on the surface and nothing like your. I did use a case for most of the time though when I dropped it, it was not in a case as my Mophie was recharging.

It seems to me that with the Glas.t it is the luck of the draw. I screwed up my installation and thought I was out $30. I then went back and figured out how to reapply it after cleaning it and everything has been good until I took it off a week ago.

I have noticed that some people aren't able to reapply it or clean it. I've also seen that the silicone adhesive underneath doesn't always stay stuck down. This tells me that SGP is doing some changes to the silicone or manufacturing process.

What stinks is that this screen protector is probably the best I've ever used. Too bad that there are so many manufacturer defects and that is what they are. Too many people are having problems outside of the install that it can't be anything else.

I think we all thought that in the beginning. How long have u had yours on?

U are correct. It is luck of the draw. That is a problem the consumer shouldn't take a hit for. I'm glad some aren't having issues. I wish I was on that side of the argument.

I had the same issue as well, I put it in my pocket with my keys and all of the sudden when I took it out there was a chip on one side of the screen protector .... I'm not sure if it was a bad one or not but it really ruined my experience with the Glas.T when I was originally recommending it for a lot of other people. Back to PS - Crystal Clear for me!

UPDATE to Technology and Return Policy

I was doing some research on the Glas.t line of screen protectors and came across this thread. This pops up as probably the fourth or fifth result on Google search. I was dissapointed to hear that chipping and return of the item were a problem and was close to changing my mind about purchasing this product.

Upon a little bit more research though it seems as if there has been some attempt at fixing these problems. They have updated the Glas.t to Glas.tR. The "R" I believe is referring to the change they made of rounding the edges of the glass. This, I imagine, is an attempt to reduce chipping. Also, they have instated a low cost replacement option. You can pay about half the cost for a replacement for any reason within thirty days. Probably not a huge comfort for a lot of people who just spent $35 on it in the first place, but it's something.

Their warranty still seems to state that they will only refund or replace an item if there is a production error. This warranty lasts ninety days from purchase.

Just thought I'd update in case anyone else came here looking for answers.

I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a Slim Tr but after reading some of the issues people have experienced with Spigen and their lack of customer service I'm going to pass. Thanks OP

Funny that a year old thread is 5th on the search. It's well known that they cheated their consumers by replacing the crappy, chipping glassT with the glassTR. They should of replaced the defective product (one they continue to sell) with the "improved" product for all that purchased.

I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a Slim Tr but after reading some of the issues people have experienced with Spigen and their lack of customer service I'm going to pass. Thanks OP
Go with the Pure from bodyguardz, far better product IMHO, better adhesive (my first rip off glass T had adhesive issues), awesome replacement program and they didn't cheat their customers by releasing a product that chipped and then "fixied" the problem and told those that bought their defective product to go F themselves.

I don't get this. So are you guys saying that the bodyguards pure doesn't suffer from then chipping issues despite not being rounded?

Yet we should let your experience turn everyone on to the product?

File a claim with your cc then pick up a bodyguardz pure. Best glass sp available IMO

Yes, this is the first real "major" complaint i've seen. The product is phenomenal but I will surely always recommend the rounded edge version so you don't have to worry about chipping if you go case-less.

That's a pity about your experience with their CS.

All I can say is that the GlasTr Slim is the best I've had so far. I've owned at least 4-5 different "floppy" protectors (including Zagg) which had various things that annoyed me e.g. rubbery texture, attracting lint, degrading light transmission etc. The GlasTr Slim installed easier than anything else and looks and feels better than anything else.

I'd recommend the GlasTr Slim as the only one to get.

It's a pity about your experience with their CS. Did you purchase directly from them or through an authorized dealer? They've been very helpful to me ... but I purchased directly from them.

I had two glas experiences... The glas.t on 4s n glas.tr on the 5, its been a while... I use to love sgp, but ever since they got that speigen name, i found the products going down hill in terms of quality. The glas.t didn't stick on my 4s prperly n there was a ranbiw shade-ish at the top left or right corner, i sent a warrenty ticket to support, they said take a pic. I couldn't take a clear enough pic, so they called it insufficent proof. I gave it a second shot, the i5 with glas.tr bc there was some promo, i think it was 35% off?. I attempt to install it, and it was nvr perfect, i can never have it dustless... I gave up... I just went back to ordinary sgp crystal and optics... After a pack or two of those, i stopped purchasing from sgp, realizing how much money it cost... Everytime a couple scratches i have to buy another set, and everytime the top coat on the optics started peeling i got annoyed and bought another pack. I was a fan of sgp, but not anymore. The prices seem to have gone up too... Though i still think sgp is a good company, just YMMV...
