I really enjoy the comments about driving for an hour to avoid sales tax! I suppose your vehicle runs on air and there is no cost for operating it. My wife used to do that sort of thing before we got married, but I convinced her of the folly. Unless you are going to save several hundred dollars, it is not worth the effort. A co-worker recently drove to Atlanta, GA from here and bouight a Rolex GMT. He had the store ship it to his hone and he did not pay the sales tax. His savings, about $320. He burned through an $85 tank of premium gas and used 7 or so hours of his time round trip. As an attorney, he has a bilable rate of $275 per hour. Had he bought the watch locally and paid the tax, ONE HOUR of work for him would have more than covered the cost. Time is money people. Think about what you are spending to try and save a few bucks on state and local tax. About as often as not, it is not worth the effort.

Even with gas money round trip, and assuming I was only going to NH and back for the sole reason of beating the tax, I would still save $200. Time? I would do it on a weekend when I don't get paid anyways. I also don't make $285 an hour, nor do most people. In fact, I could take the day off from work, drive there and back, AND still save money. Us college kids don't get paid very much as coops/interns.

Anyways, to end this whole discussion that surprisingly is getting much action, I will kill two birds and either get it on Friday on my way home to RI (which I'm going to for another reason), or I will wait til next month when I visit my dad in MA for my brother's birthday.
