Hi everyone, tomorrow I should pick up my new iPhone Pro Max and I’m not sure on what to do with my AW 4.

I know I have to unpair it from my XS Max before initializing the phone itself, do I have to do anything else?
Is there a way to disable "Find my AW" or it will do automatically when disable "Find my iPhone", from the iPhone?
Tia guys!

There seems to be a couple of options open to people, now.

The process I have always followed (I’m on my fourth watch) is:
  • Unpair from old phone
  • Set up new phone based on old phone
  • Pair to new phone.
From other posters on the forum it seems you can now simply set your new phone up from your old phone and you will be prompted to transfer the link with your watch from the old phone to the new one.

In terms of ‘find my watch’, this is disabled automatically as part of the unpairing process (and hence you will need to enter your AppleID password whilst doing this).

Hi. I just did this. Very easy. All I did was set up the new phone by Holding it near the old phone. It asked me if I wanted to transfer all my settings from the old phone and I said yes. It asked if I wanted to transfer my watch over and I said yes. Then I restored the new phone from the iCloud back up of the old phone. It took a while but at one point the Apple Watch transfer started. It was maybe an hour or so into the process before the Apple Watch transfer part began. I don’t recall if it was on the new phone or on the watch itself where I had to agree to start the transfer process. Once it was done everything transferred over to the phone and the watch was paired with the new phone.

Thanks for answering, but I’m on my carrier upgrade program so I will give back my XS Max and then pick up my new Pro Max; so, I can’t follow your process, but thanks anyway!

Thanks to all guys.
Once the 11 Pro Max finished restoring the last backup, it was enough for me to get close to the phone (to my surprise) to start the pairing process and then choose to restore the last backup et voilá!
