AW Messages Notifications Not Mirroring iPhone

I’m having an issue where my Apple Watch Ultra is not notifying me of new messages. I have it set to mirror my iPhone, and I haven’t changed anything on my iPhone messages notifications. Right now I am doing a work around where I have it set to NOT mirror my iPhone, and instead notify me of new messages. That is working, but any time I set it back to mirror iPhone, it stops notifying me.

I’ve restarted both my iPhone and Ultra, but no avail. Anyone encountered this before? What was the solution?

I am wondering if it is app specific and some apps are not paying nice with watch notifications. I have the opposite problem where I turned off mirroring for an app but I am still getting notifications from that app on my watch. I also had a problem where I was getting notifications only on my watch but not on my phone. I re-paired the watch to the phone and restarted both devices and that fixed that particular problem.

Also I got a new iPhone last month and just got the watch last weekend. I am finding that some apps copied over from my old iPhone are not sending notifications properly, so I am deleting these apps and reinstalling them. That seems to be helping.

I just unpaired my Ultra and will set it up as new. At least this is accomplished a lot quicker with the new watches. The Series 5 and earlier were painfully slow.

Did unpairing and setting as new worked? I have the same issue.
