I was a Series AW owner until the Ultra 1 came out then bought the Ultra 2. I didn't realize how noticeable the Ultra felt on my wrist until I bought the AW S10 (46m) the other day. I put it on and nearly forgot I was wearing it. Sleeping in it, etc. It's just so comfortable. So much so I may sell it.

Did you get Aluminum or Titanium S10?

Apple give you the choice. I tried the U2 mainly for the black color but shortly went back to my S10 Ti. The S10 has almost all the features of the U2 in a smaller, thinner and lighter package. It is all about how much you want to carry on your wrist.

Agree. I just got an S10 and sold my UW2 shortly after. The ultra is just too thick for my day to day needs. I wear long sleeve dress shirts to work each day and the ultra doesn’t fit under the cuff. On the other hand the S10 is lighter and easier to manage on a daily basis. The only thing I’ll miss from the ultra is the battery life.

One is a watch while the other is a clock on your wrist. Unless you need the 50m depth gauge, battery life, or siren, get the S10. The chunkiness of Ultra makes me not want to wear it.

I switch between the regular series watches and an Ultra on a regular basis. The ultra is a bit bulkier, but you get used to it. I do think the series watches are much better to sleep in terms of comfort.

Overall, I think the Ultra watches are just better built / better tech. Much better battery life, the flat screen looks attractive, and the bulkier look is just a style choice more than anything else. My first generation Ultra is still at 100% battery, and is one of my favorite Apple purchases over the past several years.

The thing is the Series watches are also good products, and can functionally do most of what an Apple Watch does

This one, there is no real right answer, just personal preference

Yep, personal preference is all there is to it. I have an Ultra 2 and a S7 and while there is a difference, comfort level is identical for me.
But, I’m not everyone ;)

S10 is different. Give a week and you might feel different. :)

That’s ok, I gotten quite comfortable with my Ultra in the past 28 months…
Have you tried to wear an Ultra for a week?

Yes, I had to return it. Fit poorly under the cuff of dress shirts (worn every day). Awkward sleeping with it too.

With a 20w charger, charging is very fast. I do it whilst getting ready in the am takes maybe 15 minutes. I have all day battery life.

So while your post was written sardonically my watch and phone are charged once a day.
When I had S0/3/4/7 charging was never an issue, never ran out and charged over night. Charging “anxiety” was never an issue for me.

I kept my S4 when I got the 7 and started wearing it for sleep tracking.

I still have my S4, AWU1 and now my AWU2, and I can not part with my AWU1 & 2. I’ve been wearing the Ultra watch since launch day and immediately took to the weight and size. I’ve never had any issues sleep tracking and wearing mine with any outfit I picked out. I love the battery life, bigger and flat screen, and action button.

The battery is a big + in my opinion, especially for travel, or people who camp and don't always have access to power for a couple days.

I was an avid fan of the Series 8 and had my doubts about the Ultra (weight on wrist) but I am now completely used to it and it's great.

That's my major concern.

The only thing I’ll miss from the ultra is the battery life.
That's the main reason I'm even considering an Ultra. I use my Watch extensively all day long. That and its automatically switching to an all-red display in the dark.

My 2020 Watch SE is down to 74% capacity. Right now I'm trying to decide whether to:
  1. Wait it out for the Ultra 3, which now apparently won't be until September
  2. Re-battery the SE and wait it out
  3. Just go ahead and get the new SE in March/April
  4. Get a Series 10
What I'm hoping is they'll give the Ultra 3 the same treatment they did the Series 10: Retain more-or-less the same battery runtime as the Ultra 2, but in a thinner form factor. If I knew they were going to do that, I'd almost certainly go with either #1 or #2.

I had an Ultra 2 since they were released. Loved it. Still do. However, in that time, I lost about 70 lbs of weight (on purpose). Now that I'm down to my goal weight, my wrists are noticeably thinner and the Ultra 2 just looked too bulky. Even my wife noticed. So, while I love my Ultra 2, I recently replaced it with an S10.

I did buy the 46mm model so I could keep using the tons (50+) of bands I've been collecting since the first Apple watch came out 10 years ago. And even the new 46mm S10 is at the upper limit in size that now looks ok on me. The smaller model probably would look a bit more proportional on me, but I wasn't willing to give up on the bands I've already invested in.

I don't mind the battery difference, at least while the watch is new, since I don't wear it to sleep (so only needs to last from time I get up to time I go to bed), but I will miss the reserve when the battery starts to age, which will probably force me to buy a new one sooner -- presuming in 2-3 years there aren't still ridiculous tariffs on it.

And I do miss the Ultra Modular watch face, which I think is one of Apple's best.
