I’m very disappointed that the titanium choices disappeared in the S8 series other than the Ultra. I have the S6 SBTi and an S7 natural Titanium. Was going to upgrade the S6 SBTi to S8. The Graphite SS doesn’t appeal to me and the Hermes pricing is an insult…….but I may cave after I see the Ultra on my wrist and how it looks with my favorite bands and get one.

It’s not worth upgrading from an S7 to an S8 to be honest. It’s essentially the same watch unless you want the car crash detention thing or are a woman trying to get pregnant. Even then a thermometer works just as well and has been the method for more than a hundred years lol.

The Ultra is a sports watch so it really depends whether those features really appeal. They don’t to me and I’m a keen runner. It’s a bit of a mediocre year for the Apple Watch to be honest.

I was also disappointed. Last two watches have been the SBTi and when I saw it was no longer available, it was Ultra all the way for me. The Hermes has no appeal to me.

I would love to see a black DLC coated Ultra next year!🙀

I want to upgrade from my series 3. Not sure it's worth getting the 8, or finding a deal on the 7.

I’ve got an S5 and considering the S7 to be honest. I don’t see any advantage of paying £130 more for the S8 when the additional features I won’t use anyway, and they look identical. You’ll notice a huge difference going from an S3 to an S7!

Go for it I say, I plan to keep my S7 until a worthy upgrade comes along, or they make a smaller Ultra next year.

If you look around you can find some reasonable prices for the Space Black Titanium Series 7. It's essentially the same watch as the Series 8 and not a bad buy imo if you want the black with a sapphire screen.

Apple is only offering me like $140 for my SBTi so I am going to hang onto it in case I disclaimers and return the Ultra. I have had the SBTi for two years and will miss it m

I don’t think it’s worth it to upgrade from an S7 to S8, the differences are very minimal. It would be at least more worth it if they gave a bit more of the features from the Ultra to the S8, like the dual band GPS or the 2000 nits peak brightness. I’ll never be in the target demographics for the Ultra, but I could see some of these features useful on a regular AW

You right

Basically the same thing as with the iMac 27 – while you hope for a nice update to what you work with, like and would love to buy again, Apple gives you a big chunk of metal that costs 2x as much. ;-). Probably because they couldn't fit the tech into a smaller enclosure. Love the Ploproff-inspired look of the Ultra, but it's much too big for the way I use the watch.

S7 > S8 competing with S5 > S6 for the worst update ever in an AW. My vote for worst update goes to S7 > S8. At least the S5 > S6 update brought some new fresh colors. The current update, on top of being lacklustre, removed colors.

IMHO there wasn't enough reason to upgrade my S6 to S7 and still isn't reason to upgrade my S6 to S8.

On the one hand I like that Apple moves a bit slowly on the AW updates and design changes as, especially if you opt for one of the premium models, you’re making a significant investment and you can feel good about keeping the watch for more than just a year or two. On the other hand though…..those new shiny updates are nice:)

They will put the colors back during mid-cycle color "update" like what they did what the S7 (green).

Not so sure about that. I can’t recall Apple ever doing a mid-cycle color update on the watch itself (ie bands yes…but not the watch). The S7 Green was announced along with all of the other colors (Red, Blue, etc…) during the S7 launch (Fall 2021). You might be thinking about the green iPhone color they announced mid-cycle for the 13?

iPhone 14 entered the chat...
look around, saw S7 -> S8 and gave AW a nod.
