Noticed something interesting. I had 3 outdoor walks on a hillside trail the other day totalling 1049ft of elevation gain according to the Activity app. It also shows I climbed 68 Flights of stairs in this same day where as in reality I climbed no stairs at all.

So it seems to me that the AW and Activity app count any elevation gain achieved towards flight of stairs climbed. Does this make sense?

Any non-trivial gain in elevation while simultaneously moving forward (ie, walking up a hill) will be enough to fool the barometer into thinking you're walking a flight of steps. This is because it has no way of knowing you're not climbing a flight of stairs.

'Flights climbed' is merely a unit for quantifying elevation gain.

The Health App describes "Flights Climbed" as "A flight of stairs is counted as approximately 10 feet (3 Meters) of elevation gain (approximately 16 steps)".
