Currently using a AW7 SBTI and bought a Ultra

I can't decided to keep or return the Ultra. I want the battery, flat screen and brighter screen but its not blown me away

The other thing I'm looking at is how much toucher the ultra is compares to the SBTI ? I've seen pretty impressive videos of the ultra getting hit with a hammer but how much different is the SBTI ? Currently my SBTI doesn't have any marks in one year and looks like new so must be pretty hard

The screen on the Ultra is less likely to be damaged due to the Ti bezel. The finish on the Ultra is going to be more likely to show wear because it doesn’t have the DLC coating like your SBTi S7.

I have the ultra and I’m keeping it. I upgraded from a SBSS Series 4 that still looked new, but the battery life wasn’t great.

Keep the S7, that’s what I did. Love the SBTi finish.

I will be honest, I am in a similar pickle. Although mine is the natural TI finish, I have struggled to decide to keep the ultra or not.

The battery is maybe the biggest reason to keep the ultra IMO...The form factor and extra features are nice but I am not over the moon about them and, other than the better GPS it is mostly software improvements that I am benefitting from.

I do not dive, so that part of the hardware is not for me...

So basically it is a new form factor and better battery vs saving 800 and knowing there will likely be a second (or third) iteration that I can buy in the future.

I know, I know, this has been the same argument people have made for well over a month now...

I returned my Ultra and went back to my Series 7 SBTi. The size of the Ultra was a bit more than I wanted to put up with. My Series 7 does near everything the Ultra did in a smaller and more sleek package.

I was very disappointed that Apple a decided to not have “Edition” Apple Watches this go around. Hope they change their mind for next year! My SBTi still looks like it just came out of the box.

I've used the Ultra all week and put the Series 7 back on. I kind of liking the Ultra more now for battery and screen shape and brightness

But then miss the smooth timeless look of the series 7

Arghhhhhh

I have both the SBTi AW 7 45 mm and the ultra. I wear the Apple Watch 7 SBTi for sleep tracking and my Ultra during the days. I thought about selling it but the resale value is so low, not even worth it so I’m going to use it as a sleep tracker.

I tried wearing my partner's ultra for a few days and it was like heaven when I put my seven SS back on. I just find it more comfortable for some reason I'm not sure it's the weight or the size but maybe the combination is just too much for me. I like the battery on the ultra but even that wasn't a super great as I had hoped.

I upgraded from S4 to Ultra. I admit it’s an expensive upgrade. The two things I’m most benefiting from are the battery life and Action button. Yes, to pay like an additional $400 to get that is a lot of money.

To be honest - I have mechanical watches as well, but I have my S7 SB Ti on with leather strap to the office for some days - and the Ultra would not fit as well with a shirt and suit to me... I know a lot of people do it (even with massive Garmins etc.) but not really my cup of tea.

I am in a similar situation. I have a S7 SBTi and S7 NaTi (Polished). But I kept hearing how great the Ultra is so I bought an Ultra and have until Jan 8th to decide if I keep it.

I will only keep 1 or 2 of the 3 watches. Between the S7 SBTi and the S7 NaTi, I prefer S7 SBTi. I love the S7 SBTi look and lightweight. And since the 2 S7 watches are so close, I will probably sell the S7 NaTi Polished, even though its a great looking watch with over 2 years of Applecare left.

So, far I do enjoy the Ultra, although I don't usually like heavy watches. The flat screen seems a little easier to read, and I have to do a full battery charge less often. I do find that my band choices are more limited with the Ultra, due to the heavier weight. Some of my current bands need to be tightened more than I like to keep the Ultra from flopping around. About half of my current bands work well with the ultra.

So do I keep the Ultra, the S7 SBTi, or both? I just need to decide if the flat screen is really that much easier to read. Readability is the main reason that I would keep the Ultra. I have been wearing the Ultra full-time for the last few days. In a day or two, I will put the S7 back on and see if I find it harder to read. I think that will be my deciding factor.

Well I have maybe once a year where the battery would make a big difference - All the other days (including Marathon Race Days) are fine with my S7 SBTi

Thanks to all for the responses, I was on their fence about purchasing an Ultra, but I’ve decided to pick up a S7 SBTi, now I have to many watches…….lol.

As a follow up...

I find that the watch hurts my wrist after a few hours with most bands that don't have infinite adjustments. For example leather bands with holes and nike sports bands hurt after a while, and the Trail loops and Sports loops don't. This means I can wear these casual (loop bands) all day, or something more dressy for a few hours. There aren't many days I need to be in business casual attire or dressier for many hours, but occasionally it does.

I need to determine how big a deal breaker it is for me. Right now, I think this makes it difficult to keep the Ultra as my only watch. I am still testing bands to see if any of my "nicer bands" can be worn all day.

Of course the Ultra has some advantages, but most of those I consider small, but they do add up. The screen is a tiny bit better to look at (flat and bright), which to me, is the biggest advantage of the Ultra. I do like the Ultra until my wrist hurts. LOL

My S7 SBTi could continue as my only watch as it does everything I need, and I love the way it looks. I also love how lightweight it is. It will be hard to give up the SBTi. At this point, I think I need to decide if I like the Ultra enough as my 2nd watch. If I was smart, I would return the Ultra and next year, pick up an S9 SS or Ultra2.

The finish titanium material on the Edition watch is far better than the Ultra. As there is no Ti Edition this year I did purchase a S8 stainless steel instead, after feel disappointed with the Ultra.

Going to be honest went from AW4 to Ultra and the user experience is more or less the same.
But i like to wear my AW Ultra standalone with LTE, i am actually at work now only took my watch with me for emergency calls etc.

I did that with my AW4 in the past as well but battery sucked.

If I had a S7 Ti (Na or SB) that more or less served my current needs I'd hold onto it and wait for Ultra2. I have S7 Graphite but I'd much rather have either S7 Ti.

Forget about it. Ultra is the new Edition. You won‘t see Titanium on the „regular“ Watches ever again.

Define „better“. „Better“ in which way?

Might be your new Edition but not for me. I like my Titanium to be black and there is still no equal. Owned the Ultra twice now and returned both times. Not for me. A bit on the “clunky“ size for my tastes.

It‘s not „my“ Edition but what I assume Apple thinks about this. A black Ti Ultra is very possible in the future, I guess. A smaller Ultra I wouldn‘t bet on.
