As a follow up...

I find that the watch hurts my wrist after a few hours with most bands that don't have infinite adjustments. For example leather bands with holes and nike sports bands hurt after a while, and the Trail loops and Sports loops don't. This means I can wear these casual (loop bands) all day, or something more dressy for a few hours. There aren't many days I need to be in business casual attire or dressier for many hours, but occasionally it does.

I need to determine how big a deal breaker it is for me. Right now, I think this makes it difficult to keep the Ultra as my only watch. I am still testing bands to see if any of my "nicer bands" can be worn all day.

Of course the Ultra has some advantages, but most of those I consider small, but they do add up. The screen is a tiny bit better to look at (flat and bright), which to me, is the biggest advantage of the Ultra. I do like the Ultra until my wrist hurts. LOL

My S7 SBTi could continue as my only watch as it does everything I need, and I love the way it looks. I also love how lightweight it is. It will be hard to give up the SBTi. At this point, I think I need to decide if I like the Ultra enough as my 2nd watch. If I was smart, I would return the Ultra and next year, pick up an S9 SS or Ultra2.

I was smart and retuned the Ultra and kept my S7 SBTI and so glad. I'll get Ultra 2 or when its black

It‘s not „my“ Edition but what I assume Apple thinks about this. A black Ti Ultra is very possible in the future, I guess. A smaller Ultra I wouldn‘t bet on.

A black Ultra would still be clunky and to big for me. Other might like.

Forget about it. Ultra is the new Edition. You won‘t see Titanium on the „regular“ Watches ever again.

Define „better“. „Better“ in which way?

The scratch on Ti Edition is not visible, especially on the natural titanium version, and if the scratch is there, it is like a mark of the time on "traditional" watch. On the other hand, the scratch on Ultra is shiny visible (due to matte finish). I had used the Ultra for like two weeks and it looked terrible while the Ti Edition (which has been used for 3 years) was just like day 1. Remember the Ti Edition is even more expensive than the Ultra.

Ah, this again. I won't go into it again, but the Ultra definitley has no "scratches easily problem". In the other thread you already admitted that you didn't have scratches on your own Ultra, but dents in the lip around the screen. Which is not the same thing at all.

Ti is softer than Stainless and will scratch and dent more easily.

Did you ever have one of the early iPods or a silver stainless Apple Watch? Nothing scratches (visibly) easier than mirror-finished steel. Can be polished, though.

The finish of the Ultra is different than that of the Edition natural Ti models. Those actually got scratched/marked very easily. Just look at all the handwringing in the old owners threads when those Watches first came out. After someone discovered that the finish could be re-brushed with a Brillo pad, most people relaxed.

I had an S7TI for about a year. It got scratches on it, but nothing major and I just rubbed them out with a microfiber and compound. That won't work with the ultra because of the satin. I have no scratches on the Ultra so far and I don't think the finish is as weak as people fear. The battery like alone is worth getting the Ultra if you like the style. Its at least 3x what my S7 was.

I am in a similar situation. I have a S7 SBTi and S7 NaTi (Polished). But I kept hearing how great the Ultra is so I bought an Ultra and have until Jan 8th to decide if I keep it.

I will only keep 1 or 2 of the 3 watches. Between the S7 SBTi and the S7 NaTi, I prefer S7 SBTi. I love the S7 SBTi look and lightweight. And since the 2 S7 watches are so close, I will probably sell the S7 NaTi Polished, even though its a great looking watch with over 2 years of Applecare left.

So, far I do enjoy the Ultra, although I don't usually like heavy watches. The flat screen seems a little easier to read, and I have to do a full battery charge less often. I do find that my band choices are more limited with the Ultra, due to the heavier weight. Some of my current bands need to be tightened more than I like to keep the Ultra from flopping around. About half of my current bands work well with the ultra.

So do I keep the Ultra, the S7 SBTi, or both? I just need to decide if the flat screen is really that much easier to read. Readability is the main reason that I would keep the Ultra. I have been wearing the Ultra full-time for the last few days. In a day or two, I will put the S7 back on and see if I find it harder to read. I think that will be my deciding factor.
As a follow up as to which watch(es), I am making some progress.

1) I decided that since my S7 SB Ti and the Polished S7 NaTi are similar I will sell the S7 NaTi. I have more bands that fit the dark Ti and Albuquerque is very casual. It is pretty rare that I need something as dressy as Polished NaTi. I have listed it for sale, here and other places for sale.

2) I am Soooo torn as to whether I keep the Ultra. If I wear it 24 hours a day, it hurts my wrist a bit, and I need to switch to the lighter S7 for a few hours. I am still playing with bands. I do like some things about the Ultra of course. I did go back to the S7 for a couple days and of course it does everything I need. The S7 Ti watches are fantastic, good looking and lightweight. The S7 SBTI is staying. The Ultra may stay too for part-time use.

Right Ultra is going back. Will wait for next version as love the S7 SBTI to much

I’ve just decided to sell my Ultra. I’m going with the Stainless Steel Series 8.

For me the main reason was turning the crown on the Ultra was always a pain with the crown guard getting in the way. And it often seemed to “stick” if I pressed it into my skin. But the watch is so freakin tall on my wrist it also made wearing long sleeve shirts and jackets a pain.

The battery life was great but it’s pointless if you put your watch on the charger every night.

Update: I sold the S7 NaTi and still have the S7 SBTi and the Ultra. Now I need to decide if I want to sell the S7 SBTi, or return the Ultra, or keep both. I currently have the S7 SBTi listed for sale, but today I put it on because the Ultra just felt a bit heavy this morning, and the S7 felt just right.

The Ultra is a nice watch and I enjoy the better battery life, but it occasionally is too heavy or too thick. I cycle, and my winter jerseys and gloves have a hard time going over the Ultra. Big trade-offs for me with the Ultra. There is no such problem with the S7.

My plan seems to change every few days. Sometimes I think I will keep both. Somedays, I think the smart move would be to return the Ultra and get one of next years S9 or Ultra 2's. For now, I have the S7 SBTi for sale. If it sells at my price, then so be it. If not, I'll keep it and be very happy. The S7 SBTi is a great looking watch, that is just the right size (for me).

Keeping both is a little bit overkill, even if you could afford it. Honestly the Ultra caters for those who do extreme sports advertised by Apple, and for those who wants the latest and greatest from Apple. I would keep the S7, but that’s because I own one as well and it looks like I just unboxed it yesterday. It has all the necessary functions available and the battery is amazing. I charge from 11-12 midnight, and whenever I plugged in into the charger the next time, the remaining battery is always between 45%-55%.

Yeah my S7 is blasting away as well - just ran a 22K run today in the cold here in Copenhagen and plenty of battery left to spare. Usually have it on the charger when I change clothes and the speedier charging makes it enough 👏🏼
