Oh wow! So is the cable flat for the full length of the cable?
Also, did you get the black with Purple lights?

Yes flat for the whole length, the lights run the entirety of the cable. I got Black cable Blue light.

What is Electroluminescence (EL)?

Electroluminescent panels are paper thin laminated panels that illuminate as an electrical current is passed through the panel. el cables still draw power, however slight. if i put in another battery then i wouldn't worry about it. i don't really want the cable anyway. i think it's like boyricers that have neon under their cars. it's just tacky.

and hows a cable gonna drain the battery?

are you implying half the people on this site don't buy everything directly from apple?

because i have a laptop with a bad battery that's never plugged in.
