Got a home filter. Big difference in the taste from tap water with it, and no antidepressants or lithium to boot.

Now, we can agree on that! There have been enough problems with public water supply contamination - as well as from local piping/fixtures that leach lead, and constant re-evaluation of safe levels - so suddenly what was safe is now not safe - that this is a good precaution. If you buy bottled water, rotate your sources.

I have a system meant for reef aquarium keepers. (I don't keep a reef aquarium - I just bought it from a company that sells them for that purpose.) I get 15ppm TDS out of the RO, and 0-1ppm out of the DI. The DI takes out all of the calcium and magnesium (which are good for you, but amply available from other sources) but as well takes out a lot of other nasty positive and negative ions, including radioactive ones. For taste, and to avoid corroding pipes, I use a remineralization cartridge that adds a modest amount of calcium (nowhere near the level of "alkaline water".)

Mercola pushes the false, anti-scientific notion that somehow the mild acidity of pure water is dangerous. Anyone who believes this had best avoid anything with vinegar in it! And stay away from those evil lemons, limes, and oranges! Your stomach acid is off the charts compared to any of this, and citrus fruit is off the chart compared to pure, deionized water.

Maybe Mercola's wrong some of the time. His suggestions have many times been of great help to me. Not in numbers, but anecdotally. I don't know how his wife can live with him because everything is dangerous to him. But he has some good stuff from what I've read of him. Recently, he said not even to bring home a raw chicken to cook. I thought, that only leaves us with sardines to eat - not that I mind them at all. But, no chicken is safe? A bit over the top. I do know we eat too much acid and that is not good. Maybe the watch will have an app someday measuring pH. :)

No.

Make a small investment, and do some science. You do not need a pH sensor built in to your watch, when there is an inexpensive solution:

I suppose Mercola would consider the following a compromised source:

https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2015-10/documents/1622624.pdf

FWIW, the pH of pure water is 7.0. But without "buffering" from alkaline minerals, it can drop to as low as 5.6, due to absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. And, thus, is no longer "pure water" - it is impossible to keep pure water pure if it is exposed to the atmosphere.

So, some people complain that deionized water is somehow bad to you, because it is "acidic". It is far less acidic than many common foods/drinks, and WAY less acidic than stomach acid, which is just one notch less acidic that battery acid! "alkaline water" as sold typically has a pH of 8 or 9. I don't think it's bad for you, but it is up there with toothpaste and hand soap!

Even consuming pure vinegar is just going to RAISE the total pH of your stomach content!

Mull this over: your body has to do something with that pH-1 stomach acid when it is done doing its job. Should we somehow eliminate stomach acid?

(Please do not consume battery acid to see how much further you can push it from stomach acid! And, admittedly, consuming something at pH 1 is gonna be unpleasant going down, but your body was designed to handle it once in the stomach.)

The OP is a nut job. So much fud in the posts.
Not fud, I assure you. I'm just a regular guy with some serious buyer's remorse. People need to be thoughtful about buying the watch. Not for everyone, believe me. And, it's a lot of money. I also make it my business to be kind with others. Have a happy new year.

I'm not talking about the watch recommendation, or lack of. I am talking about all the other stuff that is utter nonsense.

This place lives for off-topic. And it's the holidays, when things tend to go off-topic.

Anyway, just leaving some science laying out. Take a few nibbles, or sniff and walk away. ;)

Back to the watch, I replaced my S0 with an S4. I think the S4 is really the first significant upgrade, at least the first that got my attention enough to buy a new AW. The much bigger display in an only slightly larger case, the much improved performance (over the 0), much improved battery life - they all added up!
