Talking about the passcode, due to the excellent battery life I'm now wearing the Ultra for sleep tracking, when I woke up this morning expecting my sleep report for last night, it was absent - all because I didn't unlock the watch before wearing it to sleep. This is really stupid and the watch should at least let me know that it's locked.
Does WatchOS 9 work differently on the Ultra than it does on any other Apple Watch? Because on my S8, my watch face shows a blue 'lock' icon right at the top center of the screen when it's locked. Also, my activity rings are dimmed out, my calendar complication says "Unlock to View", and it throws up a password prompt every time I raise the watch to look at it. I'm actually not quite sure how I could possibly miss that it's locked.

It does. Or at least my series 7 does (expecting the Ultra in the next two weeks). There's either a blue padlock icon at the top of the screen or it asks you for your passcode the instant you move your arm after putting the watch on.

I turned on Sleep focus so that it would start to track my sleep (with a side effect that the screen did not turn on). Therefore I had no idea that it was not unlocked.
