Hey all! So to add to the heart rate /tracking issues. Not active workouts but wondering if you have this as well…

Apple Watch Ultra 2, latest update, all that.

3 different locations- all good cell coverage, 1 no WiFi.

If I am NOT connected to iPhone, cellular only, no wifi connection- heart rate, keeps spinning- “measuring”

If I am NOT connected to iPhone, NO cellular, no WiFi. Boop. 10 seconds I get heart rate.

If I connect to iPhone- with or without aw cellular - works. 10 seconds. Boop. Heart rate.

It’s tracking the heart rate in the background. When I look or not. But. When I actively want to see my heart rate, for me. It’s doing this. Watch is 5 days old. I got it Tuesday as a gift to me. Love it. Would say I don’t mind this but I do. Kinda sucky.

Is this happening to anyone else?

My Ultra 2 occasionally loses HR tracking but just moving it on the wrist or tightening the strap usually corrects it.

That’s weird, I used to do workouts on my Apple Watch without my iPhone in my pocket and in the locker instead and I still get my heart rate shown. The only thing is that the walking or running routes are not mapped, that time I had a non-cellular Apple Watch Series 1 back in the day. It was 2019.

Had you restarted your Apple Watch when you realized it was not measuring your metrics? Check to make sure that the band is on the right way and low power mode is not on (as it suppresses blood oxygen and heart rate measurements in the background).

Thanks for the suggestions! Did all of that. Restart, power off. Leave off, etc. band on right, loose tight all that. No low power mode these times but I’ll check to see if get the same behavior with on.

Really curious. A very specific software glitch on my end brings it up. But kinda weird ppl have repeatedly had this complaint on the ultra and not previous (or as prevalent- I’ve not gone searching).

But yea. If anyone out there’s tries the cell on off. Let me know if same or maybe i got a dud?

If it persists any longer than a couple of workouts even after a watchOS update, yes you can return your Apple Watch (depending where you bought your Apple Watch Ultra from), or contact Apple support to see what to do and they can tell if your Apple Watch may be defective or not. Your Apple Watch is still under warranty as it is only a few days old and can be still returned or exchanged.

I never wore an Apple Watch Ultra, only a stainless steel s6 and an aluminum one as my wrists are too small for the Apple Watch Ultra /2. But throughout the seven years with my first series 1 and now 3 months on my new watch, heart rate measurements were never missing.

Always double check that background measurements for blood oxygen (if applicable) and the heart rate is ON and to not suppress them during workouts. You can check it out in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone or via Settings and its respective app settings on the Apple Watch.
