What? I don't understand anything you're saying at all, or again, you struggle to maintain the actual topic besides refuting and refusing to answer the questions posed to you.

What exactly is your expectations from Apple? Seeing as the next gen technology that all these companies use is still afar off. Everyone has caught up. No one is doing anything special right now.

CarPlay? Does what its suppose to do: give you a minimal display so you focus on driving.

tvOS? Tell me which other streaming hardware is lightning up the market? And when I say the market I mean non-techies like us who are all about specs.
Right now 4K is still a gimmick. And Apple just like everyone else are at the mercy of content providers.

Please elaborate more on the clunkiness of iOS and macOS

Apple Desktop? Hey remember that prediction by SJ about the death of the PC?

Apple Watch..... has outsold all other smart watches to such an extent. The only thing tech magazines can compare it to are fitness trackers. Yeah... real failure there.

Oh man. You're really outing yourself. This reply is desperate. Yikes. I wonder if this is how the folks at Cupertino think?? Might explain what the hell has been going on since Jobs departure.

Outing what? Reality is just reality. Nobody is blowing people's mind with brand new tech advances right now. Everybody has the same crap with different packaging. Until the next gen chips, batteries, screens etc become a reality, you will still be getting the same as today with incremental improvements.

The rest of the problems still exist, lol. Like I said, I wouldn't want it even for free, it's a terrible laptop.

As someone who owns one along with a Lenovo Carbon X 2016, there is no comparison between the two, The MBPr is a much nicer laptop. Yes dongles, but battery life is better on the MBPr (thanks to Windows 10).

Oh well, first hand experience vs people moaning and crying about something they don't own...

Don't you know what you're missing?

The dude in the second video post another video where he did a proper gaming test and apologized for the unfair example but you post his erroneous poor review... /sigh

Hmm... been here since 2015... Do you own any Apple products or are you here to stir the pot... ;);)

I wouldn't say "most consumers" don't care about lack of native compatibility with 95+% of USB peripherals currently on the market.

Apple is selling a new laptop in 2016 that you can't even plug your 2016 iPhone (or any iPhone or iPad, for that matter) into without purchasing an adapter or a new Lightning cable. At the very least, they could've thrown a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box with the laptop.

Just sync both your laptop and phone with iCloud, you say? Well, that works great at home where I have gigabit fiber. However, pretty much every other place I go does not have anything close to gigabit fiber.

If I've taken 200 pictures with my phone while on a trip and want to edit one of those pictures on my brand new MBP while still on the trip, if I didn't have a Lightning to USB-C cable, I would have to either go buy one or wait for the picture I wanted to edit to upload to iCloud over piss poor hotel Wi-Fi and then I would have to wait for my shiny new MBP to download that picture from iCloud over the same lousy Wi-Fi.

Most rational people would be asking themselves if that is the experience they should be having after spending $2,000+ on a laptop. Don't get me wrong...these latest laptops will probably be great (at least from an I/O perspective) in 2 to 3 years when USB-C peripherals are likely everywhere. However, by then, this latest MacBook Pro will hopefully have been long since replaced.

Yes people don't care. It's as overblown as the missing headphone jack on the iPhone 7.

No, this is a lie. You've got countless threads, comments, blogs, news, reviews and youtube videos all slamming Apple for this stupid decision to not implement even a single USB-A port.

That's pretty insulting to suggest that since I'm relatively new, I must not have any Apple products. Did you even read my sig? That's terrible logic though.

Dubious review, that FPS counter he showed showed a LOCKED frame rate of 30FPS in GTA5. In every game you'll always see frame rates fluctuate. That could really only mean he had V-Sync on but why would it be set to a putrid 30FPS?

Doesn't matter, we know the AMD GPU in the laptop sucks, people are already having GPU failures just like in 2011 and Apple should have gone with an Nvidia 1060. Oh well!

Poor battery life, soldered everything, poor GPU, no USB-A ports, gimmicky touchbar, poor keyboard.

I'd take it, but I wouldn't use it, I'd put it up for sale.

I bought a 15" pretty fully loaded, and would have been even happier if someone gave it to me :)

It just arrived 5 days ago, so I haven't used it that much. It replaces my 2012 15" rMBP, which I have used extensively for over 4 years. I take my laptop back and forth to work and with me when I travel. At home and work it is hooked up to 30" monitors via a TB dock. At each place I have external USB 3 backup drives connected to the dock.

I bought the previous one very loaded pretty loaded. The difference in price between the two was very similar. The old one still has lots of life left in it, though I'm not sure what I will do with it yet.

I too was a little irritated by loss of Magsafe, the switch to USB C/TB 3, and the lack of a video ports and the SD memory card slot. However, even after only a few days I can see that I will adjust quickly.

Lack of HDMI: not that big a deal since most places I go require a dongle to plug into an old SVGSA-style connector. Besides, I have started making presentations with my iPhone or iPad.

No USB A port: not that big a deal. Most of my devices are connected to the TB dock or USB Hub attached to the dock. My monitor is attached via the dock. I did have to buy a TB3 to TB adapter (see below), but that wasn't really a big deal. I bought some USB A to USB C adapters on A**n for a few dollars for use when I travel. I bought some USB C to USB 3.0 micro cables for the external hard drives and flash card readers I use when I travel, and they seem to work fine and will replace the cables I carry around anyway. My camera uses CF and SD cards, so I need a flash reader anyway. Honestly, I don't think I will have to carry that much extra stuff with me when I travel.

The keyboard is different, but I think I will get used to it. I do miss the escape key, as I do a lot of editing in vim, but I use ctrl-[ a lot since I started on an old DEC keyboard that didn't have one.

The touchbar is not that great an advance, at least not so far. To use it you have to take eyes off the screen, and I don't find it that helpful. Also, a lot of my use is with the laptop hooked up to a big external monitor and an ergonomic keyboard.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous. The color, brightness, etc is fantastic. As I said, I use it a lot on external monitors, so that will go to waste a lot of the time. However, when traveling I often sort through pictures on it, and I think it will be a pleasure to use for that. I also sometimes use it on my lap while at home or at meetings, and it will be nice for that.

Performance seems, subjectively, better than my previous one. I guess this is a combination of faster SSD, faster GPU, faster processor, and faster memory. Apple always says they sell experience and not specifications, and from what I have experience so far I think it is enough improved that it was worth the upgrade. I haven't used it on battery enough to evaluate the battery life. However, it does seem better than my previous one (which was a real battery hog with the GPU on). However, when I need long battery life I use my iPad Pro anyway.

I can feel the difference in size and weight. This isn't a big deal, as I typically carry it in a pretty heavy backpack that is like my manpurse. However, when I do travel light I can see that size and weight reduction will be nice.

As for the loss of the Magsafe connector, I have my fingers crossed that I don't trip on a cord, or that the cord comes out if (when) I do. One good thing about that is that there is chance that I won't have to buy a charger from Apple.

As I said, I take my laptop back and forth between work and have it connected to a TB1 dock at both places. I bought a TB3 to TB adapter, and it works just fine with my dock. So, while the extra $100 for 2 adapters does increase the price a bit, it doesn't really affect how things work. In addition, the old-style TB ports never had a very secure connection and the USB-C/TB3 port seems to be an improvement in that regard. If I had a TB3 dock that could power the laptop then I would only have to connect one cable when I switch locations, which is a minor improvement.

In summary, I did buy one and don't regret that I did. Change is always painful, but I think the changes, especially in a year or so when there are more adapters/docks, etc, available, will be for the better. Sure I wish that they had a Kaby Lake processor in it, but my guess is that it would be a barely perceptible difference, which is the reason I kept my 15" rMBP for 4+ years.

This site has become almost unbearable. So many ridiculous statements being made. Apple still makes great products and I would love one for free!
Exactly. If you throw $10, this guy will run to grab it but he will reject $1000+ MBP? Lol

No, this is a lie. You've got countless threads, comments, blogs, news, reviews and youtube videos all slamming Apple for this stupid decision to not implement even a single USB-A port.

They're the minority. We've got people complaining about Apple for decades until your eyes and ears bleed, but the truth is those people are the minority.

Its more about profit than anything for Apple right now. Apple is and will continue to include less, while reducing manufacturing costs in Mac laptops and desktops; so that they will have even higher profit margins for each one they sell, even if it means lower unit sales.

Beware about buying Apple Products from B&H or any other Apple authorized resellers that are not in stock...About 6 weeks ago now I placed an order for the new MacBook Pro 15" from B&H mainly to save on the sales tax and because I wanted to purchase it using PayPal Credit 6 months free financing but till this day my order remains processing and B&H after multiple attempts has not provided any sort of ETA or estimated ship date because they say Apple has not given them one, how absurd. It seems Apple puts these authorized Apple reseller order at the very back of the line and treats them like dirt which is really unfortunate. Had I known this I would have placed my order directly with Apple, paid the stupid sales tax and would have the machine already. When I looked at Apple's web site and saw the estimate of 3-4 weeks for the machine I ordered back at the beginning of November I assumed the same would apply to my machine ordered from B&H but that's not the case at all. So beware of this when buying new out of stock products from third parties...It is a real shame this is how it works.

Yes, I would gladly take one for free as well ... then sell it to a sucker for $100 off

Agreed. Thats not even reality distortion field, thats actually evidence of using hallucinogenic drugs

We've heard it for decades and I used to be one of those haters. After giving Apple a chance I've never been happier with my devices with any other tech company. Apple is doing something right.
This is the most sane approach to take. I would bet price is a major factor this time around for people feeling fully justified to complain and to feel like they have a justifiable reason not to upgrade when they otherwise would've.

I was going to pull the trigger on this refresh but have instead decided to wait and see how Apple responds. I'm hoping this is a call to action for Apple, with both the disappointment of the MBPs we've been seeing online and the fact that Microsoft is hitting home-runs lately (either actual or perceived).

I decided to skip this generation too because of expense. Microsoft is doing well, but their computers are just as expensive or more. The Surface Book has a 128GB base model, but no one complains about that. People just love the underdog story.

I love how you bait, and switch and then deflect! Good job!!

You post something that shows incorrect information and when the creator of the original updates and apologizes you say his work is *now* dubious because he had V-Sync on...

Who cares? Hmmm... There is a high chance that it will exceed 30, furthermore, the game played (period) Isn't that what matters? You can ask him why but if it's pegged at 30 instead of assuming there is something "dubious" going on... ;)

But then you switch!

Yes, I saw that you cheeky guy :)

You deflect to "other people" who have said GPU failures...

Do you have those numbers? Do you know if it's hardware or software? Do you have any data at all aside from what we're reading on a rumors site?

Hmmm.... It all sounds a lot like tactics those "news" channels use where they quote something that's somewhat maybe possibly true and make mountains over mole hills...

As someone who's got one (and a trusty 1060 gaming laptop) I call BS :)

My MPBr 2016 (both of them) are humming along just fine. The MSI GS63VR with the 1060 and more lights than a Christmas tree is also humming along fine.

Now back to our coverage of OH NO THE SKY IS FALLING!!! What was Apple thinking!!!! Instead of... "Wow, I don't like it so I won't buy it and maybe Apple will listen"
I'll let the sales numbers speak, that's how Capitalism works :)

And what are the sales numbers?

From Forbes NOV 9, 2016: "The MacBook Pro has sold almost four times as many units as Microsoft's Surface Book, nine times as many units as the Asus Chromebook Flip, and ten times the Lenovo Yoga 900."

"In its first five days on sale, Apple's MacBook Pro has outsold the total sales of every major Windows-powered laptop. The only laptop that remains ahead of it in sales is the twelve-inch MacBook, which went on sale in April 2015. Give it another five days and the Pro should overhaul Cupertino's smaller ultrabook."

I wonder what the numbers are now?

Hmmm o_O Did you read the article? Maybe not because there is a link to the data. It's in the fifth sentence... I'll post it for you:

"The data comes from Slice Intelligence, who can survey a panel of 4.4 million online shoppers on their purchasing habits and digital receipts. The numbers are backed up by Apple’s reports of record online sales and supply chain reports of increased component orders."

Still no sign of numbers! How many Macbooks were shipped and sold?

I took my 2013 15" Retina in for "Swollen Battery Syndrome Repair" this week - and tried the new MBP TouchBar. Not for me at all. So 2013 MBP will be my new Xamarin Remote Compiler - and I bit the bullet and ordered a XEON ThinkPad P70 to replace it.

But the Mac "Genius??" sales guy I spoke to (London UK) said it was 50/50 if people liked the touch bar. In my book if only 1/2 my customers like my new product version - I would call it for a disaster!

I did question him about 50/50 and he did mean every 2nd person liked it and every 2nd person hated it. Much like Marmite! ... (Who once ran adds that said something like "Either you love it or your hate it" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmite) - I do hate marmite too ....

So the 2016 MBP TouchBar is the Marmite of Mac's ....
