Too bad they don't ship to Canada... the base 15" 2018 with the 512GB SSD comes out to the same price as the base with 256GB up here, and that's including the tax we'd be hit with at the border. Oh well.

Considering you can buy from B&H and pay ZERO sales tax... this little discount makes the deal even sweeter.

Unless you have to return it within the 14 days, because B&H doesn’t accept returns once the plastic is off the box. So then you have to deal with a special circumstance through Apple to return a purchase from an Authorized Reseller who doesn’t accept returns. It can be done, but it isn’t as easy.

But it can be a nice deal as long as you get a good unit and all goes well for sure.

Pay with an American Express card - if you have one. If they refuse to take it back, Amex will credit your account instantly. Amex has always stood by me in the past.

That's a good thought. Otherwise, you are dealing with this

B&H's return policy of non-returnable items "Opened computers and computer software — original packaging cannot be unsealed." has always given me pause, despite the deals. Though my sales tax, being in an unincorporated area, is fairly low anyway.

The EDU pricing a tad better and you get a beats headphones with the purchase, and you have a return policy with the purchase. B&H has no returns.

Pricing isn't better with edu discount. Last week I bought a 15"/16/256 for $2476 out the door at Apple Store. It included the Beats headphones.

For $30 less I can double my storage to 512GB, from BH.

I just paid $2079 via edu price for a 13" 2.3 i5/16GB/512, and that config is $2099 from B&H.

I bought the 15/2.2/512GB that is being advertised at B&H for 2,429 and that included Beats. B&H is advertising 2,449, so the apple price is lower.

At least here in SoCal where the sales tax is 8%+, Apple's discounts have never been worth it over B&H or similar resellers. Even the refurbs aren't worth it, because you're going to be hit with $100-$250+ in tax.

Massachusetts just had a sales tax holiday this past weekend. Regardless, however, you're legally required to pay sales tax, at least here in Massachusetts, even if B&H doesn't collect it. I know this applies to most states.

Lots of states are making sales tax on internet purchases mandatory since ruling. Wonder how will continue to do as these states roll out.

BH would be cheaper then without sales tax but no beats. Wildcard is the their return policy.

AmEx can make them take it back after outside of their return policy? Wouldn’t think could make them since agreeing to policy if buying.

The Devil is in the details however...

Add in the cost of the Beats headphones and the savings goes back to Apple (provided you were going to buy the Beats anyways).

So this may be a stupid question, but if you buy it from B&H can you not return it to the Apple store?
