Bang & Olufsen brand subsidiary B&O Play has announced a new pair of wireless headphones called the Beoplay H4, which "focus on pure essentials".

At $299, the over-ear Bluetooth headphones offer a less costly alternative to the company's pricier wireless models, like the the H8 and H9, and instead of a touch interface they feature traditional physical buttons to control volume and playback.

The headphones adopt B&O Play's signature premium braided textile and aluminum construction, and come with lambskin-covered memory foam ear pads for comfort and isolation.

B&O Play says the headset can be used for up to 19 hours on a single charge (via micro-USB) and can also be used wired with the 3.5mm jack and provided cable. An omnidirectional mic is built in for taking calls.

The listening experience can be tweaked using the Beoplay app and the H4's also offer an Apple Watch app for adjusting settings from the wrist.

The Beoplay H4 are available to buy now from the Beoplay website for $299.

Inb4 "NO W1 CHEEP NO BUY!!!!11"

People want their single pairing experience to be magical. This W1 thing is funny to me. /s

My Plantronics Backbeat Pro battery lasts like 20 hours and the range is stupid good. So the W1 is neat but is really just for the initial pairing. Cool. This super exclusive chip isn't all that and a bag of donuts. Apple marketing at work here.

(BTW I own Air Pods, they are okay)

I have a pair of B+O H5. Great sound and pair/connect very fast.

My only issue is their support. I contacted them because the case was missing, could they send me a new one. They were purchased as a gift so I had no receipt but they are genuine and provided the SN. They referred me to a wholesaler? Then to a local store. I asked to buy the case, they referred me to a store.

The store didn't contact me and the support don't actually provide any support just ask you to contact a store.

Pretty useless to be honest.

Bought some Koss Porta Pro's a few years ago and asked if they still sell the carrying case. They said no, but if they find one will post me one (as they are no longer available). 2 weeks later, the case turns up in the post. They only cost me £17.99.

H5 cost about 10 times that.

Nice headphones, absolutely shocking customer service!

The website for these sucks, unless you're into sites with lots of pictures but little content. Fashion models, movie stars, and full screen video clips of useless things, but not much in-depth info of the actual product.

Yes, I noticed that. Lots of nice photos but nothing else.

How much quicker do the Airpods pair compared to your Plantronics? I am guessing you save a few seconds, that's it?

We have a set of grey H7s and like them a lot, apart from the badly-implemented touch controls. So having a cheaper version with physical buttons is great.

However, it appears that the H4 do not have the removable battery that the H7/H8/H9 have. That's a real shame.

Also, would've preferred charging over USB-C instead of micro-USB

That's my point. Seconds? Don't care. Paired my Plantronics once like 3 months ago. I know the W1 is so neato but it's a strange thing people swoon over. Pairing is a one and done thing and not a selling point.

Agreed. Once my H5 earphones are paired (which is not rocket science and take a few seconds anyway) they connect virtually instantly once I turn them on.

One thing I have noticed is a pair of bluetooth headphones I had which worked flawlessly with iOS9 now have to be removed and repaired each time on iOS10. Maybe Apple changed something so it makes their headphones pair hassle free while others are a pain to pair.

Amazing, W1, the savour for Bluetooth headphones (according to marketing BS). I never had any issues before with bluetooth headphones and drop outs. And I have been using various kinds from about 2007 onwards.

Ooh, these look really nice. I wonder how they compare soundquality-wise to my AKG 701s. And like my AKGs, these Beoplay H4s are also 'over-ear' rather than 'on-ear', which is a huge listening-fatigue advantage.

Another plus point for me is the dual capability of Bluetooth and wired usage, not to mention the available App for 'tweaking the listening experience'. Going to check these puppies out!
