I just notice the other day that my mbp has quite a bit bleeding at the bottom of the screen. Is this covered my applecare?

If it's within the first 14 days just bring it in for a return. That's what I did. I recently tried to buy an mbp again and got one with the 84 screen that had two distinct light lines coming up right in the middle of the screen. My second macbook also with the 84 screen has the same issue. Could this be a thing with the screen type? Anyway, they had no trouble exchanging mine for the bleed issue...

I get this as a gift with a glossy screen, will they replace it with a matte one? Has anyone had this done before?

No, it only comes with glossy. If they replace it, they'll pull another glossy screen off of their shelf in the back (or order it from the factory) and swap it out. Otherwise, everyone will want one.

anyone know if I have my screen replaced, if they could replace it with a matte one?

Apple's policy is replace with what you have. They reason they do that is the specs attached to the S/N can't be modified, so if they give you a matte replacement, the specs would be messed up. Of course if you're out of warranty, they can replace to a matte.
