Ok updated to iOS 17.0.2 on the 15 pro max on set up and the mute option for back tap is gone.

It’s very silly because now the action button is set to camera and I was trying to set back tap to mute which is missing in the list.

Anyone else with the same issue?

You should be able to create a shortcut to Toggle Silent Mode and/or Turn Silent Mode On and select this shortcut to mute.

I have this issue on 17.4. Did you find a fix?

It could be because you can accidentally mute your phone with that setup if it bounces when you put it down.

I have back tap set to Shazam, and it activates under such conditions every once in a while.

@citibori

I also don't have the Mute option in the Back Tap menu. I don't think it's a bug, but a choice made on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, because the Mute button has moved into the Control Center, and can also be activated via the Action Button.

I have an iPhone SE 2, updated to iOS 17.4, and an iPhone 13, also updated to iOS 17.4. Both of these still have the option of activating Mute in the Back Tap menu. My iPhone 15 Pro does not have that option.
