back to mac, buying advice?

so it's been a while since i had my 128k macintosh and now i'm ready to get a mac again after years of battling pc companies for warranty service etc etc etc.

i'm looking at the macbook pro 15", maybe 2.66.

pretty generic questions...got a headache and can't search the forums right now:

is it a good time to buy one or do new models come out soon?
where can i find the best deal on the internet?
are refurbs a good way to go?

Amazon has good deals sometimes, but the Back-to-School promo from Apple is one of the best I think.

Refurbs are good if you want to save some money and can live without the latest.

Desktops were updated two weeks ago. Laptops won't be updated for another few months, or until Q1 2010.
