Is Back to My Mac (BTMM) available via iCloud without having been a mobile me subscriber?

I was never a mobile me subscriber and I cannot get BTMM to work at all.

I asked this question of a "genius" yesterday and the response is "I don't know". The genius then offered that the Log Me In service (not an apple product) works for him.

Does anyone know of a step by step guide that does not assume or refer to the mobile me account?

When you go into your iCloud Settings you will see Back to my Mac so it is part of iCloud. You will notice that iDisk and Gallery are not there which are still part of MobileMe ONLY.

Maybe you did not set it up in "Sharing". I believe you need "Screen Sharing" checked.

Are you testing within the same local network? If outside then your router may need to let it go thru. Test inside first.
