Hi all,

just wanting to share my experience with you.

I had a MacBook Air 8 years ago. Then i went to Windows , because... they started making laptops that didnt’ suck.

I recently bought a 2020 MacBook Air, based on the great reviews.

The day i received it and opened the box, i felt a great sense of nostalgia.. this is what Apple is known for.

Attention to detail, top quality premium products.

When i turned on the brand new MBA 2020, there were flickering lines on the screen.

There were 7 columns of Lines flickering constantly. Calls with Apple, resettIng the 20 min old laptop did not solve it.

Resetting the NVRAM, the SMC, etc did not solve the issue.

This is clearly a hardware / LCD issue.

Is this what is to be expected of Apple these days ? I’m not trolling.. i am truly upset that this is the case!

being quarantined at home, i now have to wait for a replacement , and i tried using this faulty laptop and getting massive eye strain due to the screen.

:(

My does not flicker as far as I can tell. Much better than my previous 2012 model. Maybe you can exchange yours if you think it is a HW failure ?

my work MBP does something like this. It’s weird, my old MBA, current iMac, and current MBP don’t do this..only my work computer. It works well, screen is good, just a little weird glitch that’s been here for the 2 years I’ve had it during the boot process

Maybe I wasn’t clear.. the lines are ever present and makes the computer unusable.

See image attached.

Strangely it starts out the morning ok, and then it gets worse and worse as the day progresses.

I’m obviously going to be exchanging it for a new one.

Not across Macs etc, but I’ve got the i5 MBA 13, and so would exchange it for another one. But is there going to be a MBPro coming out that I should consider ?

My MacBook 12 did this twice. It was the logicboard and earthing or something. Anyway, Apple were fantastic and replaced it both times no problem within days. Sounds like we both got unlucky. Never had a problem since

That'd be disappointing, but reality is there's *always* going to be some number of defective units.

No matter who makes it.

Get it replaced / fixed and move on.
