Back Up My MacBook - One Question

Hi,

I want to do a fresh install of Leopard on my MacBook, but if i make a back up of my MacBook and then apply that back up once I have done a fresh install, will this defeat the object of a fresh install?

it depends on what you mean by backup and what tools you use for the backup.
