How do I upgrade to the new iCloud plans to back up all my pictures, because 25 gb is not enough for me, I'm going for the 200 GB 3.99 a month, but I don't see an upgrade option.

If you go into the iCloud tab, there should be an option to upgrade your storage. Also, new pricing plans are now in effect so you should have been upgraded based on what you were paying.

So if I set up my phone as new, I don't get anything back from my old phone? No contacts, no messages, no photos, nothing?

Then what's the downside of backing up and restoring the backup? I don't think I can let go of all the content on my old phone.

You get your contacts easily through iCloud. The downside is bring all your baggage over, it just bloats the phone with unnecessary files and whatnot and many people experience better battery life when starting fresh.

Had always set up as new but going to back up and restore this time. Sick and tired of having to have the phone relearn my typing. Predictive text/autocorrect is a pain to use on a brand new iPhone. :p

Thank you.
And getting my messages back does not work via iCloud? And photos?

I've never upgraded to a newer iPhone before, so I have no idea how that works...

cornerexit - Thanks so much. Here's my question about your advice: After you've backed up your old phone thru iTunes, when you get your new phone, do you plug that new phone into iTunes and set it up as "New" or do you do it wirelessly, or does it not matter which way you do so?

I've got a 4S which has been a fantastic little workhorse, and has no discernable issues at all. But it's 3-1/2 years old, and I want my new 6+ to work well. I've set up all my previous (3S, 4, and 4S) iPhones as "backup" and haven't had a single issue, but I want to do the best thing for this one.

Thanks so much for your advice!

I do everything off my PC. All my iPhone data is backed up on the PC. So it is kind of like a restore process on the new phone but it only copies contacts, apps, email accounts, note files, etc. It's absolutely seamless and always has been through every gen of IPhone I've had (no S Models, just the 3, 4, 5, etc)

I don't use the cloud for anything nor probably ever will. Read about the Jennifer Lawrence/Kate Upton security breach, etc? This is why I don't use hosted storage for anything at all. Apple doesn't need copies of my photos, or anything else. Those celebs, some of them, had deleted that info altogether and the hacker still got it as the data never goes away. Cloud is just a fancy marketing name for hosted storage. Store your own data, locally. Make backups with cheap flash drives.

Thank you.

You do not get messages back through iCloud. If your photos are in iCloud/Photostream or in iCloud albums, those will come back. But you should definitely back them up just in case. To be safe, even if you plan to set up as new, do a local backup or at least back up the photos. This way if something fails, you can restore your old stuff. Just a precaution.

Yes, definitely read up on the celebrity photo breach issue.
