Ok, so I'm going back to jailbreaking my iPhone 3G dispite having gone back to the orginal firmware when i JB my phone whilst it was running 2.1. (hopefully the issue that i was having isn't replicated with 2.2)

I have a couple of questions about the Backgrounder app in Cydia.

    1. Once i download it, how do i select which applications run in the background?

    2. Does the app run all the time? or can i choose to close the backgrounder app? (save battery life when not required)

    3. Will i be notified of new events that are happening in the app (i.e. new msgs recieved in palringo) via the red circles on the app icon?

    4. How would i remove the backgrounder app?

    Thanks in advance.

While the app is running, that you would like to run in the background, hold the Home button in for a few seconds, and you will get a notification that the app is now running in the background.

You choose which apps run in the background, and which don't.

Yes, you will be notified of things, such as new messages. :)

If you decide that you don't want it anymore, go to Cydia, and click on, "Manage." Now, click on, "Packages," find Categories, and delete it.

This is true of anything that you download from Cydia.

Thanks TheConfuzed1, great reply ... just have one more question. If i dont have an app running the the Background (home not held in for a couple of seconds), will Backgrounder still be running and eating my battery? And if i have an app running in the background and i want to terminate it (close it) how would i do that? (hold home down again???)

    Thanks once again.

I don't think it's actually doing anything, unless you activate it.

I haven't had any noticeable performance or battery issues since I've been using it, and I've been using it since it was first made available. :)
